By Road

Dharamshala is 250 Kms away from Chandigarh. You can directly take bus from any state to Chandigarh. After reaching Chandigarh, You can take bus from Chandigarh Bus Stand to Dharamshala. Bus fare from Chandigarh to Dharamshala is around Rs 460.

By Air

Another way to reach Dharamshala by Airline. The nearest airport is Gaggal Airport which is 15 Kms from the city centre. You can directly take Airline services from Delhi to Gaggal or Chandigarh to Gaggal. After reaching Gaggal Airport you can book a cab or Travellers can be easily available outside the airport. 

By Train

The nearest railway station to Dharamshala is in Pathankot. Dharamshala is 86 Kms from Pathankot so from Pathankot take bus services. The bus fare from Pathankot to Dharamshala started from Rs 195.

1. Triund Hill

Most visited place in Dharamshala is Triund Hill. This is the best place for Trekkers and Adventure seekers. This is the most beautiful place in Dharamshala. Triund is 10 Kms from Dharamshala and approx. 7 Kms from McLeod Ganj.

May, June, September and October is the best time for trekking but if you want to trek in winter then January to March is best time as mountains are covered with thick layer of snow. Dharamkot is the Starting Point of Triund Trek and Triund is 9 Kms from Dharamkot. Although Triund trek is one day trek and it is not that difficult in first 5 Kms but after 5 Kms it is bit challenging yet exhilarating. During the trek, keep hydrate and have some snacks or energy drink.

2. Dharamshala Cricket Stadium

Dharamshala Cricket Stadium is opposite of Himachal Pradesh Board of Education (HPBoSE). This stadium is also known as HPCA i.e. Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association. The best part about this stadium is that it is open for tourists and it Tibetan architecture attracts the most. The timing to visit Cricket Stadium is 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Entry fees for Non-Matching day is Rs 20 per person fro one hour.

3. War Memorial

War Memorial is 2.2 Kms from Cricket Stadium Dharamshala. This place is worth visiting. The entry fees per person is 20 rupees for less than one hour and the opening and closing time is 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. The War Memorial built to commemorate the memories of our hero's who lost their lives in war. This is the best tribute for our soldiers.

4. St. John in the Wilderness Church

St. John Church is approx. 8.5 Kms away from Dharamshala. It is located on the way to MacLeod Ganj. It is open always but the timing from Monday to Saturday is 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM and on Sunday 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. This church is famous because of its architecture. This place will give you peaceful vibes and opposite the church there is rope climb so you and your kinds can spend some time there also.

5. Dal Lake

Dal Lake, Dharamshala, is about 11 Kms from Dharamshala. This is the best place for lake lovers. In this lake their is a Lord Shiva Temple, you can visit the temple. The greenery of the lake will not let you leave so sit relax and enjoy the nature.

6. Bhagsunag Temple

Bhagsunag Temple is 12 Kms from Dharamshala and 3 Kms from McLeod Ganj. It is a beautiful Temple with beautiful scenery and running water. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. People believe that the water in Bhagsunag Temple have healing power. The timing to visit this temple is 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

7. Bhagsu Waterfall

It is 450 m away from Bhagsunag Temple. The best time to visit Bhagsu Waterfall is monsoon when beauty of nature is more beautiful. This is most visited place in Dharamshala after Triund. The height of Bhagsu Waterfall is 20m.

8. Tsuglagkhang Temple

It is also known as Dalai Lama Temple and it is 5.1 Km s from Dharamshala. The lamas spend their time chanting matras on beads and prayer wheels. This place is really peaceful.You can also stay in monastery, they provide rooms for rent. You can also rotate the prayer wheel, meditate and visit the museum inside the temple.
