Places to Visit in Manali

Manali is a town near Kullu and it is best place for tourism. It is best known for hills covered with snow in winters. This town divides Kullu Valley and Mountains of Lahaul Spiti. Skiing, skating, paragliding and snow scooter are the main attraction of Manali Town. Their are many places to visit in Manali So if you are packing your bags do checklist these places before going for a trip.

How to Reach Manali from Chandigarh

Manali is 305 Kms from Chandigarh. There are many buses who connect this tourism place with Chandigarh or other states. You can join this beautiful place with your own vehicle or you can come with cab or bus services. By air is another way to reach this destination place. Kullu Manali airport at Bhuntar is 10 Kms apart from Kullu. Travelling time taken by air it will take 50 minutes to 1 hour, by bus 8 hrs or by own vehicle it is less than 7 Hrs or less according to your driving habit.

You can't travel through train as their is no railway facilities. But the nearest railway station is Joginder Nagar Railway Station which is 163 Kms away from Manali. So if you are train lover and want to enjoy train ride also you can book your tickets from Chandigarh to Jogindar Nagar.

Places to Visit in Manali 

Manali offers adventures and fun activities in winters as well as in summers. Manali provides you the best view of Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal covered hills through out the year. Trekking, rafting, nature scenery or much more make your Manali Trip adventures. You can visit Manali through out the year but if you want best view then winter time is the best time. If I tack about month then December, January, February and March these are the best time to visit Manali.

1. Hadimba Temple

The first place to visit which is near to Manali Bus Stand is Hadimba Temple. Hadimba Devi is a wife of Bhima and Bhima is a part of Mahabharata. This temple built in 1553 by Maharaja Bahadur Singh. People of Manali Town worship Hadimba Devi for deity for their good deeds and she is strong and devoted women. She was born as demoness but now she is worshiped as a god. It is open 24x7 Hrs.

Hadimba Temple is 1.6 Kms away from Manali Bus Stand which will take around 15 to 20 min to reach by walking tour. In 2016, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani movie was shot in this loaction. This place is surrounded by beautiful trees. Only your eyes can capture the beauty of this place. So go and spend some time here.

2. Museum of Himachal Culture and Falk Art

Museum of Himachal Culture and Falk Art is approx. 180 to 200 m away from Hadimba Devi Temple. It is a small museum with traditional objects. It is established in 1998 to collect and exhibit culture and folk art of Himachal.

3. Old Manali

After Museum of Himachal Culture and Falk Art the next place is Old Manali which is about 1.5 Kms from the Temple. Old Manali is clean and less crowded. Old Manali is famous for Shopping, Delicious Food and Beautiful environment.

4. Himalayan Nyingmapa Buddhist Temple

This place is also known as The Manali Gompa. It is 350 m away from Manali Bus Stand you can put it into the first in your visiting list or can be last one. Manali Gompa is one of the finest monestry although its not that big  but it contains a large statue of Lord Budhhas. This place is main attraction for tourist who come from Nepal, Tibetan and Lauhal.

Day 2

5. Jagatsukh

Jagatsukh is 12 Kms from Old Manali and it is biggest rural community in district Kullu. This place is famous beacause for its amazing nature and GauriShankar Temple. Adventure seekers can trek to Jagatsukh Temple from Manali. Trek started down from the velley and then up to Naggar Village. Trek is about 22 Kms so many choose vehicle to reach their . So it all depends upon you weather you can trek or book a cab.

6. Nehru Kund

You can also choose Nehru Kund before visiting Jagatsukh. Nehru Kund is totally opposite side of Jagatsukh. It is 5 Km away from Bus Stand. Nehru Kund is natural Spring which is named after Late Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru Ji.

7. Solang Valley

It is 11 Kms from Bus Stand and 6 Kms from Nehru Kund. It is also known as Snow Valley. It offers you adventures activities such as skiing, paragliding, horse riding and zorbing. Each activity cost around 200 Rs per Head and Paragliding costs around 1000 for 3500 high altitude. It will be your best time of the trip where you can part in these activities. If you are planning to visit Solang Valley leave as early as possible.

8. Beas Kund

Beas Kund Trek is one of the most famous trek place. Beas Kund is 14 Kms from Mananli Bus Stand and 3.5 Kms from Solang Valley. Beas Kund is a place where Beas River is originated. It is best camping spot and beautiful view of Peak. You need full day for Beas Kund so consider it as 3rd Day. 

Beas Kund trek will take 2-3 Days so plan Accordingly. If you are coming with family avoid this place as it might very difficult for your family to travel. But if you are planing a friends trip you guys surely have to visit. This will the best time after Solang valley Adventure.
